Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child

Samaritan’s Purse is an international relief and development organisation that works through local churches in Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. It also has offices in the USACanadaGermany, and Australia.

You may have come across our Operation Christmas Child initiative, which thousands of churches, schools and businesses across the UK are already part of. Alongside sending shoeboxes overseas, they respond in a distinctly Christian way to issues facing people with water shortage, sanitation and sustainable livelihoods along with disasters and emergencies.

Ministry partners around the world hand out shoebox gifts in the local community at festive outreach events. Along with the shoebox gifts children are also offered a Bible story booklet call ‘the greatest Gift’, which tells the story of God’s greatest gift, his son Jesus.

Long before shoeboxes arrive in more than 100 countries volunteer National Leadership Teams train church and community leaders who want to reach out generously to children with the joy of a simple gift and share the Christmas story of Jesus.

Church, schools and groups collect these boxes between 9-16th November. Then, thousands of volunteers check and prepare the shoeboxes for international shipping. It's so important that we continue to send shoeboxes and it's simple to do online using the link below:
