Annual Christian Aid Sale of Pictures and Scottish Books

25/08/2022 16:23

The annual Christian Aid Sale of Pictures and Scottish Books takes place from 18-22 October at St. George’s and St. Andrew’s Church West, George Street, Edinburgh.

This year marks the 50th year of the Christian Aid Sale. It includes works by eminent artists from across Scotland and the UK, past and present. The wide range of artworks – from oils and acrylics to etchings, drawing and prints – are sold at prices to suit everyone, from the seasoned collector to the first-time buyer.

The Scottish Books section offers more than 3000 volumes from the wealth of Scottish literature that is our heritage. There are signed first editions donated by leading contemporary Scots writers, and from the past there are collectable out-of-print titles. The sale also includes some particularly fine art books.

Proceeds from the Sale of Pictures will go to this year’s Christian Aid Harvest Appeal which supports our East Africa Hunger Crisis Appeal. Right now, millions of people in East Africa – across Ethiopia, South Sudan and Kenya – are unable to grow crops as the climate crisis rages on. After the worst drought in 40 years, they are facing the threat of famine.
